Soulful Business :: The Core Foundations To Create A Business With Soul

Soulful Business Without Selling your soul

The new moon in Taurus brings the energy focus for this month to money and pleasure. It’s also the perfect time to re-evaluate your soulful business.

I’ve been undergoing an overhaul in my business.

It’s become abundantly clear that I’ve tolerated so many things, because I’d lost sight of my core why.

Is it any wonder my soulful business lacked soul!

I started my business to make an impact on this planet, spread love and to offer a safe space of acceptance to women who are ready to stop settling.

But I somehow got caught up in the ‘strategy’ of it all, and lost the heart + soul of my core message.

I focused so much on the outcome, strategy and idea creation that I never actually got to implement and even worse I let go of the ability to work intuitively.

It became a numbers game, and whilst it still is in so many ways – the work MUST come through your soul.

When you’re so focused on the detail, you miss out on the insights you receive along the way to share your core message, and in turn lose sight of the true big picture.

It’s all about trust and action – the key word being action.

There’s going to be days where you don’t feel like doing anything. In fact this took me days to write as I stopped and started with procrastination and overthinking.

I took to my journal to get to the bottom of it, and what came up was that I was so caught up in the ‘how’ of it all – the technical stuff.

The thought process usually goes something like this:
“Ok so I’m going to write today, and it’s going to be so much fun. My writing is just going to flow, and I’m going to shut everything else out and just write.”

What happens is that I get so caught up in my head about it, that I forget to release all expectations and outcomes and just.write.damn.it.

So I walked to my local coffee shop, journal and laptop in hand (I chose the cafe that has no internet access, ie no chance for distractions).

I started by journaling and asking the question:

Why do I feel such resistance when I’m writing?

    The answer I got was:

There are expectations rather than being in the moment. I’m building up the experience in my mind with “it’s going to be so much fun”, rather than just doing it. Basically I’m peaking in my mind before I even get to write.

I can’t tell you everyday just works in flow automatically, because some days it’s a conscious decision for everything I do in a day, other days just happen by themselves.

They ‘happen by themselves’ because of the work I put into creating daily rituals to keep my business soulful.

Being in flow kinda days ‘happen’ through daily rituals of devotion to your soul's calling, regardless of how hard it feels. Share on X

These are the base core rituals I can’t live without:

    • Mindset
    • Spiritual
    • Health

They all contribute to my work ritual of writing and showing up for my peeps.

I used to think that only celebrities or really successful people need to micro-focus on things that induce high performance.

I’ve realized how wrong I’ve been.

Whilst I’ve always wanted to perform at my best, and operate at optimum levels, it was at a very superficial level.

I’ve always loved looking good so everything was at surface level (even though I thought otherwise) but the older I get the more I appreciate how important it is to work from the core both spiritually and physically.

    High performance life hacks rock.

    • Superfoods (Turmeric + Coconut oil come to mind)
    • Green Juice + Smoothies (drink with Glass Straws of course)
    • Daily walk or jog
    • BulletProof Coffee
    • Paleo Philosophy (particularly no dairy, gluten or sugar)
    • Protein
    • Healthy fats

Running a soulful business means consciously applying high performance principles in all areas of your life, in order to be able to show up, serve your tribe and be a Leader who leads truly by example.

    Intuition + Strategy (+action) = Soulful Business

[warning]If you need help with running your business from the inside out, I’m offering a free Hustle + Flow Assessment to get to the core of where the physical, mental and spiritual leaks are in your business.[/warning]

  • The Truth About Breaking-Down To Break-Through

The Truth About Breaking-Down To Break-Through

    breakdown-to-breakthrough-for-blog

One thing I know for sure is that a breakdown ALWAYS proceeds a breakthrough.

I’ve experienced this on many occasions, and what I find most frustrating is regaining the momentum I had worked so hard to build.

The last couple of months have been trying for so many peeps including myself.

On the surface, I’ve smashed through lifelong conditioning. I came out of it feeling like I’d done the work, paid my dues and it was MY time to shine.

What became so blatantly clear though, is that deep down I didn’t feel I deserved to have this success. I wish I could tell you that it was a clear-cut decisive moment where the abundance floodgates opened, but I’d be lying.

The reality is it’s not quite that simple.

There was the range of emotions I had to work through.

Anger – why the fuckk did I do this to myself?
Sadness – all those seemingly wasted years of pain
Fear – can I make up for those years?
Hurt – feeling the pain of not playing full out.
Guilt – I could have given my Daughter more time, fun etc if I only I had the internal resources.

Feelings aren’t always logical, but they sure can FEEL logical.

Think about a time when you said something in the heat of an emotional moment where you felt completely justified, only to calm down and realise you were way out of line.

Any kind of emotional meltdown, has set backs and repercussions. Some may take longer than others, but what’s important is that you start to get back to your kinda normal routine.

Going through this experience can leave you feeling dazed, confused and unsure about what next step to take.

Here’s 3 tips to pick up the pieces, regroup and get back into action taking mode.

    Go Back To Basics

Write down the top 3 things you need to focus on each day to get yourself back on track. My go-to simple basics are wake early/sleep early, exercise, lemon water. Don’t over complicate things.

    Understand + Share The Lessons

Share with your peeps to connect AND relate. Allowing them into your world cultivates a deeper relationship from near and afar. Your experiences and life lessons should always be the basis of your teachings.

    Track The Cosmos

Understand what’s going on in the universe. What phase of the moon are we in? Is Mercury retrograding? What lunar month are we in?

It’s important to write this all down, because you may find that it’s all in alignment with cosmic traffic which affects us all on a level we can’t even begin to fathom.

But be warned: This is NOT an excuse for inaction, it’s about working WITH the energy of the universe which brings to light what’s working/not working.

Don’t settle for less than you deserve gorgeous – it’s time to stop making excuses about why you’re not where you’d like to be.

If you’re struggling to finish what you started, or aren’t really sure why you just can’t seem to get your shit together, then I’d love to invite you to work with me.

I’ve got a few spots available for 1:1 Mentoring with me.

  • The Hustle + Flow Battle

    The Hustle + Flow Battle

    Battle between hustle + flow

Once upon a time there was a huge battle between Hustlers and Feminine/spiritual peeps. Both sides thought they were right, and you were only allowed to pick ONE side.

I struggled for years with this because I love BOTH sides, and had no clear idea about how to integrate the two together. It was all or nothing in my mind, so I kept dancing between both worlds.

Until it dawned on me that I was following what I was seeing, rather than marching to the beat of my own drum.

Who said I can’t be a hustler, feminine AND spiritual? Yeah that’s right, I mean being woo-woo and a badass.
The only person who controls what you create is YOU, whether it’s conscious or so innate that we don’t even realize. Where else are you giving up your personal power to conform and fit in? I remember being in that position and it fricken sucks big time. It’s always a journey and I’m still evolving and sharing my message as I go along, but the difference is I’m doing it from a place of feeling empowered like I can create anything I want just because I declared it to be MY truth.

I mistakenly thought feminine meant softly spoken and I guess almost submissive. If truth be told I also felt being spiritual meant that ‘negative’ emotions like anger, sadness or fear meant that I wasn’t evolved. The difference between now and then, is that I not only OWN my feelings (rather than stuff them away), but I’ve learned how to channel them to create a positive outcome.

What’s super important for me is to ensure I’m honouring all aspects of my life, in order to hustle in flow.

    Filling my spiritual cup daily:

    • Journaling
    • Meditation
    • Moon Mapping
    • Chakra Balancing
    • Crystals
    • Essential Oils
    Fuelling my creativity daily by:

    • Writing
    • Reading
    • Connecting with awesome peeps
    • Quiet moments
    • Journaling
    • Drawing (just doodles with colourful stationary)

    Building my hustle (physical/mental) stamina:

    • Sleeping/waking early
    • Eating foods that nourish my body (avoiding gluten, dairy, sugar)
    • Getting out of my own way
    • Stop looking at what others are doing and my OWN thing
I want it all and I’m claiming it now.

Hustling in flow is about honouring your internal life cycles, as well as following ancient wisdom principles which give you the fuel you need to hustle like a Mofo. It’s about taking action even when you don’t feel like it because you’re devoted to your intention. It’s definitely NOT about sitting back and waiting for things to happen when they’re meant to happen!

It’s time to light up the world by leading your peeps, while being a kick-ass powerhouse feminine warrior.

This is what Melinda had to say about The Lunar Business Success System:

“I’ve found Monique’s Lunar Success System to be an easy yet powerful system that keeps me on track with my business goals. Monique talks about hustle and flow which makes a lot of sense to me in this fast-paced digital world where everyone seems to be talking constantly about taking action.

What I love most about Monique’s system is that it allows to you tap in to the natural energy of the moon to really leverage those peak hustle times and get things done but also to allow yourself the space to reflect, receive and celebrate what you’ve achieved in the month.

It’s a lot of fun creating different rituals at various stages of the lunar cycle and I’ve really enjoyed applying this system in my business and in my life.”

  • How To Get Your Hustle Groove Back After A Break

How To Get Your Hustle Groove Back After A Break

    Hustle Groove

I always love this time of the year, not because I can’t wait to step away from my business but because my little girl is home on school holidays.

It’s also a time for reflecting on the year that was and planning for the year that’s coming.

Having time off can surprisingly play around with your daily flow because creativity needs consistency in order to evolve and grow to new levels.

Just like you start off with baby steps and progress to maturity, so too does the quality of your creative output.

I’ve been mulling over this very blog all day, and what would normally take me an hour or so to write has just dragged on. Being on client calls today has charged me up, and I’m ready to tackle this now.

I chose to have less time off this year, while focusing on the planning side because this year is about focused action-taking, rather than last minute decisions. As I’ve mentioned before, fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants FEELS great but it’s not conducive to a sustainable business that keeps you excited in the long run.

I’ve been watching a bunch of inspiring videos ranging from spiritual to organising tutorials, which have helped get me out of my own head space and back into the blissful space of creating, leading and being a Zen Hustling Boss Lady.

Whilst I normally love to read, I found that videos/audios allow me to be able to relax and absorb more of what is being said, especially when my brain is still in holiday mode lol

Here are 5 things I’ve done/am doing to get my hustle groove back awnn.

Ignore The Multi-Tasking Urge To ‘Catch-up’

Been there. Done it REALLY well, and bought the postcard, t-shirt, mug & mouse pad to prove it 🙂

Coming back from a break can be really overwhelming. Between holiday-brain and picking up the tasks put off until ‘after I get back’ – it can feel like D-Day. Trying to do 5 things at once, isn’t going to solve the problem, because the brain goes into overload and, which basically means you’ll be worse off than when you started.

Create a schedule of what you’re going to do daily, and do ONE thing at a time. Having a plan of action takes away the overwhelm, while allowing you to literally tick things off your list which ALWAYS creates a sense of accomplishment.

    Re-Introduce Routine

Whenever I have time off I find it hard to remember the simplest of things. Think about what you did on a daily basis before your break. Maybe you woke up at a set time everyday, or worked out first thing in the morning or booked in clients for a certain day. Whatever you did regularly pre-break in your business, at home or socially – find that zone again and it’ll help ease you back in the flow.

    Gradually Wake Up Earlier

The best part about holidays is sleeping and waking whenever you feel like it. Sure you CAN still do that when you’re working, but your body needs to be nurtured & fuelled to deliver the output required to blend biz + life. Start gradually waking up earlier by setting your alarm clock back in 15 minute increments every other day. You may even like to do this weekly with 30 minute increments. Slow and steady wins the race here, so it’s not about waking up at your regular time as soon as your break is over.

    Declutter/Organize

Another great reason for taking a break and feeling refreshed, is to get rid of anything that’s not serving you or makes you feel uncomfortable. The main part of our house is the living/dining room and there is an extra desk with a computer for my little girl which suddenly became a dumping ground. Just looking at it everyday made me feel overwhelmed and clouded. I also have a big winter rug which I FINALLY rolled up and packed away. Just this alone has allowed me to mentally feel spacious and abundant, ready to kick-it! Be sure to also clear your desk to create a workspace which allows your creative hustle to flow.

    Create A Groovy Music List

Music is super important to me, and always a starting point for anything going on in my life. From heart-break to elation, to writing, there’s always a soundtrack to suit the theme of the moment. I create music lists for working out, meditation, shower music, everyday music and the list goes on. Create a playlist in Youtube or iTunes and give it a name which can be as simple as Workout, Pump, Inspiring, Writing etc. At the end of the day you need to call it something that has meaning to you, with songs that get you in the zone. My list varies from Rock Steady Crew’s Uprock (a classic favourite hahaha) to All I Do Is Win by DJ Khaled. Find what suits you and get into the groove girlfriend.

  • 7 Things I’m Not Taking With Me Into 2016

7 Things I’m Not Taking With Me Into 2016

    LE_GlassStraw-176

I have to say that 2015 was a year of massive awakening for me.

Plenty of stop/starts, breaking through limiting beliefs, getting more real and vulnerable than ever before. But more importantly getting clear on my message and life purpose that my business allows me to share.

It’s a great time for reflection, about what’s worked and what hasn’t.

Here are 7 things I’m not taking with me into 2016.

    1. Over thinking

This has literally paralysed me at certain points in my life. The need to understand and plan down to the minutest detail just doesn’t serve me or my peeps.

I’ve missed out on many opportunities waiting for the ‘perfect’ moment, and that bloody well ain’t gonna happen AGAIN.

New Way: I only need to follow my gut. It’s always served me well, and I’m going to let it unleash in 2016.

    2. Not Being Vulnerable Enough

Last year I finally started cracking through the facade built up over decades. I only scratched the surface with vulnerability in business, so I’m looking forward to delving even deeper into this.

New Way: Keep it real, lead from who I am and share my message – not just the perfect show reel.

    3. Not Sharing My Message EVERY SINGLE DAY

Pretty self explanatory. This all goes back to over thinking.

Keep it simple and talk from the heart.

New Way: Share what’s in my heart regardless of how it’s going to make me look.

    4. Not Planning

I’ve been flying by the seat of my pants, and whilst I LOVE the feeling. It doesn’t serve me well in the long run.

New Way: I’ve already mapped out my offering for the new year, so I know I have a reference guide to go back to at any point.

    5. Limiting money beliefs

Chasing money yet deep down feeling like I didn’t deserve it.

New Way: I love money and money loves me. I serve, I deserve (thanks Denise DT)

    6. Not being present

I’ve missed out on so many signs, intuitions & never-to-be-repeated moments because I was distracted with doing 5 things at once.

New Way: I wish I could say that I’ll only focus on one thing at a time, but I know that’s not me. Instead I promise myself that I will be present during conversations and connecting with peeps. I’ll also ensure that for the most part I make a conscious effort to focus on doing one thing at a time.

    7. Inconsistency

Inconsistency has plagued me for years. I managed to finally get my groove back towards the end of the year – better late than never.

New Way: Do at LEAST one thing that moves me towards my yearly goal – everyday.

What are you leaving behind in 2015?
