3 Things Mint + Parsley Taught Me About Hustle + Flow In My Business

Mint + Parsley pic for blog

In my humble opinion, salad just ain’t a salad if there’s no herbs in it – particularly Parsley & Mint. On a good day, I eat salad twice a day.

I’ve been getting  a little lazy lately though, either eating no salad or even worse,  ONLY including the basic vegies, so sometimes those two delightful Herbs unfortunately get left out.

I love these herbs too much to do without them, and realized the solution was to prep these happy herbs (well that’s how they make feel hehe)  so they’re ready to go every time I need it.
As I rinsed, picked and bunched up the Parsley + Mint, it got me thinking about how ‘herb prepping’ applies to business.

Here are 3 things I realised as I was picking mint leaves, and bunching parsley:

    Prep For The Flow

We all know being lucky means you’ve prepared yourself to receive, so when the opportunity presents itself, you’re ready to kick-it.

Daily flow doesn’t just magically happen, it starts off with a choice and then it requires a little loving to blossom. The biggest misconception is that flow just flows…ahh no.

A structure needs to be in place in order for that flow to happen.

Take The Time To Forward Plan

What do I mean by structure?

In order to be spontaneous, ironically there needs to be systems and/or processes for that to happen.

Say for example, you’ve let your daily writing time slip away to nothingness, and have finally decided it’s time to launch your product.

Now because you’ve let your writing rhythm slip so far,  you don’t feel in flow or alignment because you’re not expressing yourself.

You may even call it writers block.

Your brain is like a muscle that needs to be trained and conditioned to perform in the way you choose..

You go to write and the words just don’t flow. Pressure starts to mount as you realise how far on the back foot you’re starting.

Now the system you need is to create a daily writing schedule, which allows for spontaneous creativity ideas to be birthed at any time because you’ve laid the foundations.

    Make sense?

    Stay Grounded – Hands On

Like I was leaving out my happy herbs, you need to also be aware of what you’ve neglected in your business.

One thing I try to maintain is being grounded and hands on – regardless of how busy life may be. I’m far from perfect, and sometimes it does feel like a juggling act but it’s worth it in the end.

Daily essentials to keep me in the zone and grounded are journaling, Lunar tracking + planning my day to ensure I get it all done.

This also applies tracking your income, which goes beyond just looking at the daily sales.

Understand what was sold, where these peeps found you and who they are.

Also take note of optins, and general Social Media (this can be done weekly or monthly)

Remember, one of the most important ingredients for success (aside from action) is PREPARATION.

Think about some ways you can speed up your daily routine, without missing out on anything.

It doesn’t have to be big.
It can be as simple as my Mint + Parsley prepping, but makes a massive difference to your productivity level.

I’d love to hear your pointers, share your tips below.

  • How I Went From Idea To Cash Sales In 48 Hours

How I Went From Idea To Cash Sales In 48 Hours

I’ve always got ideas racing through this brain of my mine, and if I had a dollar for every idea that’s done a marathon run in my head, I’d probably be on my way to billionaire status.

One day I got to thinking about what I enjoy doing that lights me up, feels effortless, and more like fun than work.

I realised that I really enjoy coming up with names for products and services. There just had to be a way to monetise this strength that has seen me waste so much time in the ‘creative’ phase, without progressing any further.

Largely because it’s just me, so I don’t really have time to do EVERYTHING, and mostly because NOT everything is going to excite me in the long run.

I’ve learned to decipher between what ties into what I’m doing, and what’s going to divert my attention.

On this occasion, it tied in just fine thanks 🙂

    So as I was saying……

I LOVE the whole creation process and thought why the hell can’t I monetise THAT?

Well I did and I also starting making sales within 48 hours. Read on and I’ll tell you how I did it.

    Think About The End Result.

Decide on the outcome before you think about anything.

I thought about what I could offer that I had seen peeps struggle with.

It occurred to me that one of the biggest thing I see my clients stress over was coming up with names and/or tag lines for their product or business.

How cool would it be for them to walk away at the end of our session with with names + tag lines for their programs and services.

    The How

In order to get them to that end result, there needed to be a process to get to the finish line.

I took some time to think about about the best way to deliver this.

It dawned on me that there had to be some pre-work completed in order for our time together to be laser-focused.

I crafted the pre-session Creative Jam and called it The Naming Adventure because it was more than just a session or experience, right?

Next step was to let as many people as possible know.

    Sing It Loud & Proud

The strategy I used was to post my offer in a few FB groups, looking for beta-testers.

This is a great idea for a couple of reasons:

    1. I needed to refine the process

    2. In exchange they would offer a testimonial if happy with the service.

I had an overwhelming response, and narrowed it down to 7 awesome women.

    Why 7?

No particular reason, it just felt right. Just enough to clear out the glitches, but not so much that I was de-valuing what I do.

After each session, I asked each lady to post a testimonial in the group where they initially saw my post.

Within 48 hours, I had two paying clients who came to me AND I became the go-to-gal for naming.

I didn’t advertise or even email my list.

This is what happens when you take inspired action and act immediately.

As I’ve said before, so many ideas have slipped through my fingers because I never took action on them.

I was so caught up in the ‘planning’ that I didn’t do any of the work.

    In summary:

    • Get clear on what you’re offering.
    • Refine the process with beta-testers
    • Be up front with your testers, and let them know why you’re doing this, and that you’d like a testimonial afterwards (provided they’re happy with what you offered)
    • Prepare to be vulnerable, and share the reason why you’re doing this i.e. new offering, testimonials, refining the process.

  • Use It Or Lose It Sister: Why You Need To Jump On That Idea Right Now

Use It Or Lose It Sister: Why You Need To Jump On That Idea Right Now

    ZenHustler.com

As a creative entrepreneur, I’ve let so many brilliant ideas and thoughts slip through my fingers.

The biggest one I can recall, was back in 2003 where I had the idea to create a one stop shop online for all types of insurances. What this meant was, rather than the time wasting monotony of phoning numerous insurers for prices, consumers would head to one website and enter ALL details in one place, instead of individually.

Great idea right? Yeah I thought so too.

But I didn’t do anything with it and a few years ago, somebody else did bring that vision to life.

I could go on forever and a day about different strategies, words, thoughts that I had written down and actually planned out. BUT did absolutely NOTHING with.

I’m right in the middle of reading Big Magic by Liz Gilbert, which has opened my eyes up to a concept I was only recently becoming aware of.

    Ideas have a shelf life.

Either you use it or it moves on.

In Big Magic, Liz tells the story of a fictitious novel she was so passionate about writing, with a very specific and unique storyline.

After investing hours or research and writing, she had to step away from it to focus personal life issues. When she eventually came back to it much later, Liz found that passion had waned and it was a struggle to get back into it the flow that once was. So she gave up.

Months down the track she meets and befriends another author, by the name of Anne who tells her about the inspired idea she has for a book, which unbelievably is the SAME thing Liz was writing about in her book.

They even worked out that Anne got the inspiration at almost the same time that Liz made the decision to let it go.

And that’s pretty much how it works.

[pullquote width=”300″ float=”left”]The universe delivers everything you desire, but you gotta grab it and actually USE it.[/pullquote]

You know those fleeting uhhmaayyzing ideas you get in the shower, driving, watching TV etc? Those magical moments happen when we least expect, and it’s because Spirit has a chance to talk to us when it’s not so noisy.

After you rush for a paper & pen like I do 🙂 the crucial part in this formula is taking action.

You can sit and plan forever and a day OR you can make the decision to take creative control of your life.

The clock’s ticking gorgeous, are you going to do it or watch someone else live your dream?

  • How to Break out of a Creative Slump when you Need to Write NOW

How to Break out of a Creative Slump when you Need to Write NOW

The cold weather + mercury retrograde has played around with my brain waves. Well I don’t know if that’s happening scientifically, but it sure does feel that way when experiencing a creative slump 🙂

You know those times where you struggle to think of the most commonly used words? When stringing a sentence together feels like a mighty feat.

Write that blog post you tell yourself.

    Create your free giveaway.

    Finish/start on your salespage

    Craft your FB ad.

The list just keeps getting longer, while you sink deeper into your black hole of nothing, wondering how other people are ‘switched on’ all the time. It’s not really as complicated as it seems.

Here’s 5 things you need to do when you’re not in a creative flow.

    Intention
The first thing I write down when I’m creating a new message, is what I want the reader to take away. For example the intention for this email you’re reading right now is to help clear away brain fuzz.

If you get stumped along the way, just refer back to your intention to get in flow again.

You may tell a different story than what you initially started out with – that’s ok. The main thing is to stay focused and keep it simple.

    Just keep writing
Ever had one of those days where you just had nothing to say? It happens to the best of us. This very post you’re reading came to me because I was in the same position and this is what I did to get me fired up again.

I was actually writing about something entirely different altogether.

Write even if it feels like gibberish because you’ll pick out a few gold nuggets that can be used now or in the future.

    Get over yourself
Stop being a Prissy Perfection Princess. Sh!t happens, but it doesn’t give you the right to roll over and emotionally cease to exist. Stop looking at your imperfections and just serve your peeps. Nuff said.

    Keep it real
Keep it honest and from the heart – write about what you’re going through.

Sharing your truth allows you to help others going through the same thing. It’s also a great way to step outside yourself, gain further clarity, and also a deeper understanding of your clients pain which you can use when you’re writing any type of copy.

    Musical Dreams
Music has a strong life force of it’s own that can take me on a magical journey at any time.

Life without music is colourless, tasteless & just plain boring. There’s a song for every flavour ie mood.

When I want to write about things close to my heart, I listen to music that slows me down and makes me reflect.

    Think:
    London Grammar – Strong
    Lean On – Major Lazer
Do You Remember – Jarryd James

My inner Hustler hustles to fast upbeat rap, dance or pop music. I love listening to this type of music when I’m on a rant or feel strongly about something I want to share.

    Think:
    Work Bitch – Britney Spears
All I Do Is Win – DJ Khaled
    I’m Me – Lil Wayne

The type of music you choose truly comes out in your writing – choose wisely.

    Bonus Point:
Oh and most importantly, don’t forget to shake yo booty to get your blood AND creativity flowing.

How do YOU get back in the groove? Share your tips below.

Stay on track and in flow with this proven reliable and consistent system.

    Peace Out!

  • Is It Spiritual To Fight?

    Is It Spiritual To Fight?

Is it spiritual to fight? You’re the best around.
Nothings gonna ever keep you down.
    Fight till you drop.
    Never stop.
Can’t give up, until you reach the top.
You’re the best in town (FIGHT)
    Listen to that sound (FIGHT)
A little bit of all you got, can never bring you down.
You’re The Best – Karate Kid Movie Soundtrack

I’ve been obsessed with this classic 80’s song for the last couple of weeks.

It’s right up there with Eye Of The Tiger to get me in the fighter mindset.

As someone who lives in both spirit AND hustle world, this song got me thinking about how ‘making’ stuff happen ties in with flow and being spiritual.

Is It Spiritual To Fight For What You Want Or Should It Flow Naturally To You?

What many people get wrong is that it goes against all spiritual principles if you DON’T take action. It’s the type of energy you put into it that makes the difference.

So you can wait for the answer to fall down from the sky, or you can STILL keep moving forward while you’re waiting to hear it.
You’ve heard the old adage, start before you’re ready.
    Same kinda principle here.
Take the action even if you don’t feel like it.
The level of intensity will vary, but you will ALWAYS be hustling.
You may have developed a negative view about being a fighter, BUT it’s simply a choice between ‘fighting to make it happen’ or having a Fighter Spirit.

So IS it spiritual to fight for what you want?

It’s super spiritual to honour your purpose, and that means making it happen even when you don’t feel like it/don’t see how it will work/don’t know what to do etc.
Being a fighter doesn’t mean you want to fight the world, be aggressive or that life is a battle to be fought .
It means you’re willing to stand up for what you believe to be true deep in your core about yourself, the world and others.
Fighting for what you want doesn’t mean physical, mental or emotional torture. It just means that come hell or high water you’re going to shake shizz up yo.

    Put Your Back Into It.

Remember; we’re spiritual beings having a human experience, which means there are universal laws that apply. As much as I’d like to live in Airy Fairy World as Hippie Chick, I realize that my inner Sik Bitch needs to come out and play.

One cannot exist without the other for me.

I need to be still to hear the message from above, but then I need to get my hustle on to make it happen.

Don’t get me wrong, some people are happy being ‘in flow’ ALL the time. That just doesn’t work for me.

My soul actually craves being in BOTH worlds.

Both worlds have so much to offer, and it’s up to you to ensure you maintain the pureness and integrity for both sides.

How do you integrate the two?

When an idea pops up, you have two choices.

You wait until it’s the right time to create and then share it.

Because you know, you have to write that blog post, or finish off your ebook before you can even think about it. Then you need to bathe the kids and make dinner (and the list goes on). Catch my drift?

    OR

    You can just start now.

    Simple, right?

Starting NOW means your fighting the urge to do what’s comfortable for you.

Fighting through your blocks and self-imposed limitations.

And THAT my friend is what makes you a fighter.

    A Bona fide Spiritual Gangsta.

You no longer have to choose between being a lover or fighter anymore, because you’re a Loving Fighter.

It IS spiritual to fight – Booyah!

I hereby give you full permission to sucker punch your own limitations, laziness, inconsistency and whining.

    You got this.

“Fight til you drop. Never Stop!”

What song gets YOU pumped? I’d REALLY love to know – I’m serious!! 🙂 Share it below,  and tell me so I can add it to my playlist of songs to get me pumped 🙂

    Peace Out!
