  • How I Finished 2015 Better Than It Started (And How You Can Too)

How I Finished 2015 Better Than It Started (And How You Can Too)

It’s been a brilliant year of growth for me.

What started out as one of the worst years of my life, after losing my Sister inlaw to cancer last year, has ended as one of the best!

What made it so damn good?

    Hhhmmmm

I guess I took action this year without even knowing what the big picture was going to look like – a big thing for a Virgo like me 🙂

I used to take so much time to meticulously plan something that would actually never get executed.

If only I knew then what I know now……

    action kicks planning’s butt!

But before all that action, I gave myself the gift of time to heal at the start of the year.

I deactivated my FB, got healthy and cut the crap out of my life which included food, people, habits + beliefs.

Here are the top 5 things that helped me go from apathetic couch potato to action taking Zen Hustler.

Share Your Message (Even If You Don’t Know What It Is)

After taking time out to regroup, I came back to my Business without a clear direction of what my message was.

I had changed so much since starting Zen Hustler, that I really didn’t know what I stood for anymore.

This made sharing my message quite difficult because I had a vision in my head & heart that I couldn’t express. Besides feeling frustrated, it was also doing nothing to grow my business.

So I started sharing thoughts, or tools I found and experimenting with offers.

I found the more I shared my thoughts, the clearer my message became to me and other peeps.

Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step – Martin Luther King

     Write Daily

As simplistic as it sounds, it’s super important to write something – even if it’s “I don’t know what to write”.

I’ve honestly written that over 20 times when nothing was coming to me during a writing sesh.

The more space you allow for creativity, the more it longs to work through you.

My heart kept longing to share a message, that my mind just couldn’t comprehend.

Writing is something I LOVE doing, but struggled with at the start because I couldn’t blend mind, heart & spirit.

The reason the triangle couldn’t come together was because there was no consistency with my writing.

Rather than ONLY writing when ‘feelings inspired’, I chose to include writing into my daily schedule.

This meant that whether I felt like it or not, I was going to write something.

    Respect Your Business

When I started to treat my business as it should be treated – a vessel to serve my life purpose, it responded back with kindness.

I used to work around my social schedule.

Now that doesn’t mean I no longer have time out for me, it’s quite the opposite really.

Start treating it like you would a job, by creating work hours.

I still have the morning time to myself before I start my day, and finish by school pickup. Some days there are after school activities so I have more time for fun (work).

The point being, create structure + boundaries for your day.

    Connect

My word for this year was connection.

I didn’t end up looking like I had planned, but I sure did connect.

The goal was to join an in-person women’s networking group, and for some reason it never felt like the right time.

In hindsight I understand that I was still healing from grief, and finding my voice again.

I trusted and still maintained that intention – even when I didn’t think I would ever get to start.

And then it happened, towards the end of the year I was able to connect with a bunch of awesome women through FB groups who I DID end up meeting in person.

This was definitely one of the highlights of my year, and contributed to ending the year on such a high.

Try to include some offline connections, particularly the peeps you actually interact with online.

Magic happens when you meet awesome peeps in person.

    Devotion

I’ve spoken about this in a previous blog post, but I need to mention it again.

I removed discipline from my life, and re-introduced devotion.

When you are devoted to something, discipline just comes naturally.

Connecting to my big why, which for me are: being able to pick/drop my Daughter from school, AND help women hustle + flow to create a biz filled with fun & freedom has helped me stay focused.

I’m devoted to changing women’s lives and giving my Daughter a better life with both having her Mum at home, as well as financial stability.

I choose devotion to my cause, rather than grinding to the discipline drum.

  • What Does It Take To Go From Flat To Focused + Driven?

What Does It Take To Go From Flat To Focused + Driven?

    Yes!
6 weeks ago I was in the darkest place I’ve ever been in my life.
    •  I was super unhealthy & unfit.
    • I had zero passion or drive for biz (or life for that matter).
    • I had no energy or focus.
    • I was disconnected from spirit and those I loved.
    • I just couldn’t get my sh*t together at home (my house was nowhere near tidy).
    • I had no structure or routine to my day aside from when my Daughter had to be dropped off/picked up from school (and even then I was late probably 80% of the time).

Everywhere I turned doors were closing in on me, and don’t even get me started on how dull and boring life had become.

It’s been a long and bumpy journey to ‘the slump’ – the sneaky thing just creeps up on you.

Of course the best solution is prevention.

You stop doing one seemingly little thing that makes your daily wheels turn, and then one day you wake up and realize you’re struggling to keep up.

I was beyond scattered, I was brain-dead and emotionless.

The good news is that I’ve turned it all around to look and feel the best I have felt in quite literally years.

We’re in February, and all the new year bravado has probably worn off and you’re left scratching your head thinking, is this all?

I mean 2015 is a brilliant year, but are you tapping into the energy? or better yet do you know how to?

Using a bunch of strategies and tools, I’m now:

    • Focused
    • Fit
    • Healthy
    • Productive
    • Connected
    • Present
    • Organized

If you want to experience this life changing transformation then we need to talk asap.

I’m super pumped to share this with you, that I haven’t even put a sales page together.

One thing you’ll learn about me, is that I am soooo big on taking action (the hustling).

Ya gotta balance the ‘zen’ with the ‘hustle’.

Too much Zen and nothing happens.

Too much Hustle and you’re all scattered – just busy being busy.

I’m only taking 10 women on this journey with me.

This program runs for 40 days, because it’s been proven to take that many days for changes to stick.

NB: This is NOT an online program, this is you and me 1:1 for 40 days, live and interactive.

I’m going to be there every step of the way with:

    • A daily telephone checkin to set the tone/schedule for your day, and keep you accountable for the previous day.
    • Weekly 1:1 30 min session where we’ll delve into your weekly action plan and focus.
    • Email support
    • Lifeline calls when you’re stuck or unsure.
    • Private FB group.
    • Training modules as required.

I had to work my way through this dark lonely maze alone, and I’m holding the space, knowledge and first hand experience to help you though this.

  • How To Know If You’re Evolving Or Caught Up In Bright Shiny Object World

I caught up with friends that I haven’t seen in 7 years a couple of weeks ago, and it was a truly blissful catchup. There was no actual problem for this separation, it was purely a case of both sides getting caught up in this whirlwind of life as we know – or was it?!

It’s rehashed a myriad of old emotions because I haven’t been in that space for so long, as well as given me a fresh perspective on so many issues which have already been internally resolved.

On the surface I wasn’t a good friend, I never wanted to hang out, sit around and chat or make the effort really.

Was I doing this to be a bitch?

    Absolutely not.

    Did I do it intentionally?

    No way.

I simply wasn’t happy, and didn’t know how to relay this information to anybody, and so it showed up as inconsistentcy in my life.

Being this inconsistent has held me back from more than not being a great friend, it’s stunted my financial and personal life goals.

As I’ve shared before, I did so much chopping and changing that I’m now wary of making ANY changes, because of past experience. It dawned on me yesterday that the key here is deciphering the difference between whether up-levelling and procrastination, which includes waiting for the next thing to save you.

I can now clearly see how a BSO can disguise it self behind evolving and moving forward, but what if you aren’t ready to make that leap?

    Think about that.

It’s like a Med Student wanting to be a surgeon while he’s still studying – most times you need to allow the learning’s to take place while YOU consistently take daily steps to reach your goal.

This is not about getting to the finish race the fastest, but at the same time it’s not about hiding behind your evolution journey or waiting to feel inspired. So you see there is a fine line between the two.

Evolution feels like a natural progression, perhaps a step or two forward – not 10 steps. If 10 steps feels great for you, then go for it. I just know that in my experience, when you jump to high up to the next level it’s not sustainable and so it ends up being a case of 10 steps forward and 11 steps back.

BSO on the other hand, feels like desperation disguised as inspiration. You feel elated, super excited and like THIS is the answer to your prayers.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news honey, but it just ain’t gonna happen like that. I’m all for visualizing what you want and living in the space of believing + action, but once again slow and steady wins the race.

If you want to earn $100k and you’re currently making $5k, then why not make your goal $20k or $50k? Write down your $100k goal but break that down into smaller chunks so that could be to make $20k in the next few months.

Break that down even further, by writing down how many sales you need to make and what sort of action needs to happen to get there.

    BSO Warning Bells

When you’re in a space of fear and trying to move up, you’re desperate to see results, which creates a neediness that keeps it all at bay

Thinking you can skip the process by moving forward without ticking off the boxes as you go, without earning your way – because the quick way is better right? Your mind usually just can’t catch up that quickly sweets.

Not seeing something through won’t allow you to truly guage what you need, and it’s going to be a constant uphill battle.

I’m the expert at BSOS (Bright Shiny Object Syndrome) and I’ve got the battle scars to prove it.

    Effortless Flow

Evolving still feels scary but it’s an inner knowing that FEELS right. It shows up in the form of inspired ideas, but the difference is that it’s coming from a place of expansion – not neediness.

It offers just the right mix of excitement-fear layered upon a deep sense of knowing and trust. There is clarity and stillness – rather than a flurry of activity – a peak of action with no consistency.

Some things that help me stay on track.

Take time out every morning to write in your journal.

As cliched as this sounds, it’s helped me in more ways than I can even explain. When I’m overwhelmed and going into that fear-space, I see a clearer perspective on my ‘why’ for the change. I also get great ideas that are going to ‘actually’ bring me to my next goal.

    Narrow your Offerings

Focus on a 1-2 things max to start with – ideally 1. When I narrowed my focus down from 5 things to 1, not only was everything so much clearer, but I had cleared space mentally + energetically for new ideas about how to market my product – as opposed to new ideas to create and move me away from from I was doing.

    A Voice Of Reason

Talk to your Husband, Coach, or Friend about what you’re doing and how you plan on doing it. When I want to go and spend money on a new program or change direction, I run it by my husband & Coach. Not because they need to make the decisions for me, but because they aren’t as attached to my business and see it purely from a practical and logical perspective.

Oh the years I have wasted searching for that magic bullet.

    Newsflash: It doesn’t exist!

Steady, consistent action always trumps steroid induced wins.

What are you going to laser focus on for the next month? Declare it below.

  • Escape from Wonder Woman Syndrome

    Escape from Wonder Woman Syndrome

    wonder-woman-carter

Do you remember my post about the Big Balance Myth?  I told you the story of the reporter and the very organised woman and how his report left out all the parts of her life which were not so pretty.

He was contributing to the development of Wonder Woman Syndrome.  One amazing woman gets everything done (and done well) without ruining her perfect hair or her perfect nails, and while smoothly managing a job and her family.  She’s a wonder woman, alright.

    •  The real Wonder Woman is a fictional character who has super powers.
    •  She has a range of super weapons built into her uniform and into those bracelets she always wore.
    •  She has a secret identity and, like Superman, only becomes Wonder Woman when she has to fight crime.
    •  She is not married and has no children to care for.

    • Do you have superpowers?
    • Do you have super weapons?
    • Do you only have yourself to look after?

The answer to all those questions is probably ‘no’ so why do you put yourself under so much pressure to be another Wonder Woman?

What is it that you have to prove?  Who do you need to impress?

No matter what other women seem to be I can guarantee that they are no closer to being Wonder Woman than you are.  They too will be driving themselves to exhaustion as they try to keep up with all the demands on their time.  Their homes might look immaculate but don’t open the cupboards in case everything topples out.  Their hair and makeup might be perfect but I’d hate to see their bathrooms.

    girl-dressed-up-as-superher

No matter how hard you try, you will never be Wonder Woman but remember; she had an advantage.  She was only Wonder Woman for part of the day while you are attempting to live the role 24 hours a day. Even Wonder Woman couldn’t do that.

Instead of struggling to reach the impossible, give yourself a break. Save your health and your sanity.  Ditch the stress that is eating into you and into your relationships.  You are the one who is demanding perfection of yourself – no one else is pushing you.

Think about asking for help.  Hire a cleaner or a gardener.  Outsource the work you dislike.  Hire a Virtual Assistant or a Bookkeeper.  There is no shame in calling for support.  In fact, these days it’s a regular part of life.

If you can free yourself from the things that stress you and suck up your time, why not do it?

There’s a lot of life out there waiting for you.

Make the decision now.  Become Good Enough Woman, instead.  It’s a much more comfortable fit and she’s a much happier person.

P.S If you’re ready to evict Wonder Woman and find your Awesome Enough Woman, then you’re going to love my Ignite Brand YOU! program. It shows you how to stop existing and start sparkling from the inside,
